PREGAME – KINGS BATTLE FLU AND BLUE JACKETS; MOLLER TO THE RESCUE
Or so goes the Los Angeles Kings’ locker room. Alexander Frolov, Teddy Purcell, Justin Williams and Brad Richardson apparently shared a toothbrush as they are all sick with some form of the flu. Whether it is a common cold, swine flu, or just a result of flying over New Jersey on their way to New York, we don’t know. What we do know is that at least one of them won’t play tonight against the Columbus Blue Jackets, perhaps more.
To help alleviate the sickly Kings, Oscar Moller has been recalled from Manchester and will likely play tonight. While Moller is no doctor, he just may be the cure the Kings’ withered offense of the last several games needs. Moller has played 5 games with the Monarchs on the top line with Andrei Loktionov and Scott Parse, potting 3 goals and 2 assists in that time. One has to expect Moller to be hungry as ever as he fully expected to make the Kings’ opening night roster. And we all know what a hungry Oscar Moller looks like.
The Kings defense will also see a change. Davis Drewiske switches spots with Sean O’Donnell to be paired with Drew Doughty. O’Donnell will play with Matt Greene, who has struggled out of the gate. Drewiske’s +5 rating is best on the team, and his steady play has earned him more minutes.
The Jackets, 4-1-0 in their first 5 games (sound familiar?), will be without defenseman Jan Hejda.
Achoo. Oh man. Must be spreading.
Go Kings Go!
