Swap out the Canucks’ jersey for a Coyotes’ jersey and there you have the face of the enemy for the night. Jason LaBarbera gets his 3rd start of the season tonight, facing his former team for the first time since his 7th round pick-worthy departure. One of two things is certain to happen tonight. Either LaBarbera will step up to the challenge and give the Kings fits, or he will just resemble someone having an epileptic fit… you know… the LaBarbera we all remember so fondly.
The day of haunting and terrorizing children is two days old, but Kings fans hope LaBarbera has some scares left in him for his new fan base in Glendale, Arizona.
More importantly, Justin Williams returns to the Kings lineup after missing 5 games. Williams’ chafed thighs, bloody hangnail, badly twisted leg hair or whatever mysterious lower-body injury kept him out of the lineup has apparently healed enough for him to rejoin recently cooled-off Anze Kopitar and Ryan Smyth. With any luck, Williams can help relight the scoring fire, as the Kings have only scored 2 goals in the last 2 games. A whopping 3 goals if you count the 2 shootouts.
Wayne Simmonds will replace Teddy Purcell on Stoll’s line, and Purcell drops down to replace Peter Harrold on the 4th line. Harrold replaces Trevor Lewis in the press box, who is finally getting ice time in Manchester.
