I have watched not just the other playoff games today but the Kings games in this series. One word epitomizes each team’s success when they have played their best. Speed. Not just skating, but every aspect of the game. Passing with speed, cycling with speed, lateral movement with an established cycle with speed, quick shots (i.e., with speed). Game 3 was the clearest example of this. When the Kings were successful there was no hesitation entering the zone, tape to tape passing and immediate shots. Jack Johnson, especially, kept his feet moving at all times during the powerplay.
Vancouver’s entire offensive strategy is based on the concept of speed. Watch their passing when they have established the cycle. The puck doesn’t stay on a forwards’ stick for longer than 3 seconds, if that.
The Kings have to get back to a fast paced game that brought them a game 3 victory.
