It was unknown up until the last minute whether or not Kings’ midget prospect Brandon Kozun would play on a bum ankle in the Memorial Cup.

Well, he is going to play. A little boot on the foot isn’t about to keep this little ball of fire down.

So, sit back, and enjoy watching Kozun and goalie Martin Jones take on the Moncton Wildcats in the Memorial Cup’s second game of round-robin play right now on the NHL Network. Kozun is wearing #15.

If you missed last night’s game between the Brandon Wheat Kings and Windsor Spitfires, don’t worry, you didn’t miss much… besides a blowout. The Wheat Kings were shelled, down 5-0 after the first and 8-1 after the second. I stopped watching there. Apparently our boy Brayden Schenn had a nice first assist, and from what I saw was not a big reason his team was shellacked. He was physical, but had trouble controlling the puck, perhaps trying to do a little to much upon zone-entry. His next game is tomorrow… I think. For future reference, Schenn wears #10, as well as the ‘C’.

  1. Kozun gave it a go, but to no avail. He was in too much pain after a few shifts and sat the rest of the game. He’s probably done for at least a month.

    • Yeah that was quite unfortunate. I saw him on the ice for 3 total shifts, and in those 3 short shifts, he had/created 2 quality scoring chances.

Gotta give the little warrior credit. Too bad though.

Jones looked pretty good, aside from a weak 3rd goal.
