As I drove home yesterday, I listened to Gary Bettman announce that the NHL Winter Classic will be played at Heinz Field between, who else, the Washington Capitals and the Pittsburgh Penguins. That is two out of the last four featuring the Penguins’, Sidney Crosby. That is the league once again showcasing Crosby v. Ovechkin. Since he entered the league, we have heard about Sidney Crosby as if he is the NHL’s marketing face without rival. In the past two seasons, we have seen the strides of one Alexander Ovechkin.
It’s time for a third.

I would love to see the NHL put some of it’s marketing muscle behind Drew Doughty. We get beat over the head with Sidney and Alex, till you’re sick of them both. It is long past time that the league began marketing a star like Doughty. Maybe after the Kings knock off either the Pens or Caps and Drew gets to drink from The Cup.
In reference to your last sentence, that is probably what it is going to take…
Not sure that would even help, because Kieth and Seabrook aren’t poster chidren yet,and their the ones in the finals.DD is alot younger though.Maybe they’ll figure it out by his 21rst birthday, after he’s won the Norris a couple of times.
