That’s what being reported. Per Scott Burnside:
The New York Rangers are on the verge of signing unrestricted free agent winger Alexander Frolov, a source close to the situation told ESPN.com Monday evening.
The two sides were close to a deal Monday evening with the term of the contract still yet to be agreed upon by the two sides, the source said.
Frolov made $4 million last season and his salary cap hit was $2.9 million.
Take everything with a grain of salt though boys. He is Russian after all. Perhaps Lamoriello will swoop in and sign him to a 20 year, $20 million dollar contract (cap hit, $1 million per year) just to make Bettman’s head explode. If he does go to the Rangers, he will be reunited with his good friend, Sean Avery. That should make Sean happy. I hear he sucks at making friends.
