BRAYDEN SCHENN INJURES KNEE

As you may have heard by now, Brayden Schenn has injured his knee during a training session in Canada. Rich Hammond has confirmed this fact. Hammond did not indicate the nature or extent of the injury. Meanwhile, we have learned that the injury may be to his MCL and he will be out several months. In short, don’t expect Schenn in a Kings uniform this season. If it is indeed an MCL and surgery will be required, I expect his best case scenario will be to play after January in Manchester. Let’s hear it for being WRONG! I think I am going to kick the butt of the person who told me Schenn will be out for months, but I will do so sweetly and nicely because he has been right far more than he has been wrong…he is still getting a subtle boot in his ass.

  1. That sucks.

  2. That’s a terrible setback to his career. I hope the MRI comes out positive, and he can get away without surgery

  3. are we allowed to use the F WORD on here…
that is the worst.. knee injuries.. poor kid!

  4. This summer has been an injury plague! Hopefully its nothing too serious.

  5. Well this certainly changes the forward season preview I am writing.

  6. Doesn’t sound very serious. His trip to LA was already planned for the rookie camp. If it was serious, he wouldn’t be waiting for an MRI for an injury that occurred on Tuesday. A meeting with the Kings medical staff is scheduled for tomorrow.

BTW, Bob Miller has “precautionary” surgery today and will miss hockey fest.

  7. “Meanwhile, we have learned that the injury may be to his MCL and he will be out several months.”

How can anyone know this without a medical exam? He hasn’t even seen a doctor yet. He meets with the Kings staff tomorrow.

“If it is indeed an MCL and surgery will be required, I expect his best case scenario will be to play after January in Manchester.”

He’s not eligible to play in Manchester until after his Junior team’s season is over. It is either the NHL or juniors this season.

    • You bring up a good point but we had learned that he tore it and that was confirmed. Now if he did not and nothing has been confirmed then I say thank goodness information provided to me was wrong…although this would be a very rare instance that the person I talked to was wrong. I am pulling for this being his first because I want to see schenn play this season

  8. Hammond is saying that he didn’t have the MRI today and will be evaluated tomorrow, so that is sounding less serious. I certainly hope it isn’t that bad.

  9. All thoughts to Bob!!! Such a GREAT Anouncer… I so apprecite him and know how
priviledged we are to have him… on a realistic note.. he is getting older so I am glad he is
being taken care of and watching his health…Will miss you at Hockey Fest Bob..
    speedy recovery!
    GO KINGS GO !!!

  10. Helene Eliot is twittering that there is no structural damage to Schenn’s knee and he is listed as day to day. She also said Colton Teubert will not take part in rookie camp, due to an injured thumb.

  11. MCL tear…your mama !!!

  12. sounding like good news.. hopefully.. as to Teubert.. he has been out with the thumb since
the end of the season.. I personally think he will be a Great asset to our Kings when he
is healed up and matured up!
