KINGS’ ROOKIES BEAT COYOTES’ COOKIES IN SHOOTOUT 5-4

The first game of the pre-season kicked off tonight at the jobing.com arena. Our Boys v. Coyotes.

Kings skated on the ice in the following battle formations.

Clifford-Loktionov-Kozun
Kaunisto-Weal-Vey
King (Dwight)-Elkins-Toffoli
Nolan-Czarnik-Harnden

Hickey-Mullen
Deslauriers-Fransson
Muzzin-Kolomatis

Jones was in goal

A smile formed the moment I saw that first line. At the rookie camp, I watched the trio skating together and had a hmmm moment. Some of our readers commented positively on our Facebook account (if you are a member of Facebook, you can find us by searching for “Bobby Scribe”) about that line. One questioned if it was the line of the future.

The goals came from Hickey, Clifford, Weal (love this kid!), and Czarnik during regulation. Kozun got one in the shootout. Clifford also had a fight, one in which he apparently manhandled 6’6″ Tyler Howe. Howe about that!  The Kings had a 3-1 lead going into the third, gave up 2 in the last frame but ultimately won in the shootout on a goal by speedy Brandon Kozun.

Smell that? Smells like victory. Huzzah!

GO KINGS!

  1. 5-4 final score in a shootout.

    Hickey
    Clifford
    Weal
    Czarnik

  2. That was a great game, because they fought off the Yotes for the whole third period, from what I could gather from bouncing back and forth between Facebook and Twitter. Do you know of anywhere streaming video or even audio of these games?
