Further proof that John Tavares is no Matt Duchene.

This is almost a week old, but I suspect most have not seen it.  Not Kings related, except that it makes me just a little more worried every time the Kings take on the Colorado Avalanche, but for the pure love of hockey you will enjoy this.

Makes Pavel Datsyuk’s patented move look like the first generation of an Apple product, doesn’t it?

  1. Jesus. Hearing about it doesn’t do it justice.

  2. Not sure if it’s the guys screaming out or the move itself that ‘wows’ me! Definitely has some glue on his stick!

  3. Haha, I reacted the opposite….in silent wonder. Just sat there with my jaw dropped trying to figure out how the hell he did it. Then I hovered my arrow over the sweet spot on the time line and clicked over and over again about 100 times!

  4. Wow…. Totally reminds me of this move:

    • The goalie’s reaction is priceless. Although if that was me in goal at that age and another kid did that, I would have skated him down and beat the puck out of him in front of his parents until he apologized for showing me up…that was just me though :)

    • That move is even better! Especially coming from a kid on NHL ice during a one on one tourney!

I still dont get how this move ever came into fruition. Who the heck would even think to try something like that!

  5. I’ve seen that clip before and it still amazes me! That kid spent a lot of time perfecting that move, and those kind of sweet hands are gonna take him a long way in this game. I get the feeling that in about 8 years, we’ll be seeing that clip again on a Draft Day telecast, while the talking heads try to figure out when he’ll be getting taken.

  6. Funny thing is, it’s a pretty common trick these days. Something the Crosby generation has brought to the table. I think I first saw it in person actually….during warm-ups before one my roller hockey games about 6 years ago. Some 19 year old, or there about, was pulling it off and I was like WTF?!
