Helene Elliott tweeted that the Kings signed Scribe’s heartthrob Jordan Nolan to a 3 year entry level contract.  While Nolan was going to play in Manchester with or without an NHL contract, this means that the Kings can call Nolan up to play for Los Angeles at will.

Also, for those youngsters who just made the roster, they get their regular jersey numbers back.

Loktionov goes from 48 to 12.

Schenn from 55 to 10.

Clifford from 64 to 13.

Lewis from 61 to 22.

And Muzzin drops 85 for 6.

For those who like to remember numbers of Kings’ past, Loktionov will wash our memories of the last number 12, Randy Jones.  Without looking it up, the last 10 I remember was Nathan Dempsey.  Clifford fills the shoes of Zeiler and Cammalleri who wore 13 before him.  Last year Jeff Halpern wore Lewis’ shiny new 22.  Muzzin takes over O’Donnel’s 6, also previously worn by greats like Lilja, Corvo and Kuznetzov.  Here is a complete list of King players to wear the various numbers.

Now if only they’d give Hickey #4…

  1. Congratulations to Jordan Nolan, and I think that is good strategy on the part of the Kings, because it should give the kid some confidence and help him to work and train harder, given the possibility of a call up at any time. I like the new numbers on our newest Kings.

And I also think that the Kings will be handing out #4 to someone, sometime real soon, because I don’t think it’s going to get retired in honor of Rob Blake. One Norris win shouldn’t make you a jersey retirement candidate.
