New L.A. Kings jersey in white

Thanks to the website, icethetics.info for the photo and article.

A couple of Los Angeles Kings fans say they got a sneak peek at what might be prototype jerseys.

One reader sent in this photo (right) in which we see two white jerseys draped over a couch in Luc Robitaille’s office at the team’s practice facility in El Segundo.

Robitaille is the Kings’ president of business operations. And the sweaters feature the logo currently in use on the team’s black third jersey. The anonymous shutterbug included the following in his email to me…

  1. I would love to see the 3rd jersey as the new main jersey (a reversed white version or reversed white but the silver/black on the sleeves are switched for road games). Then take the original gold/purple and make that our 3rd jersey.
    Get it done Lucky!

  2. I hope that they don’t go back to white at home. It’s pretty hard to tell from that picture what they really look like, and I don’t see why they wouldn’t be out before 2011-12. I’m not real wild about the logo on the 3rd jersey anyway, but I guess they have to keep changing things up every couple of years, just to get marketing money. That is becoming more and more important to these franchises.

    • I hope they don’t return to white for home games either. True…new merchandise has become important but original jersey has become very popular. I see a lot of younger people sporting that replica jersey. I am just not a fan of the way they integrated the color schemes after the shield jersey. I feel the 3rd jersey logo is reminiscent of the 90’s jersey in it’s simplicity, less is more. So that’s what I wear at least for now.

  3. There are people all over the web doing designs for every team in the league, if they wanted to consider a new design for the 3rd jersey. They could even take a crack at reving up some of the vintage designs shown at this site:

  4. I like the modern crown logo better. And, I love the the embroidered LOS ANGELES on the bottom of the existing standard jersey. They should have put it on the alternate kit.

I believe the NHL dictates that home jerseys must be dark and away jerseys must be light.
