If you’re the Los Angeles Kings, heck, let the trend continue.

National Hockey League teams are quickly learning that patience, and a brainy scouting staff, is the best way to win in the long run.

The Penguins did it -benefiting from horrible years -in drafting the likes of Sidney Crosby, Marc-Andre Fleury, Jordan Staal and Evgeni Malkin.

The Blackhawks followed up with savvy early selections like Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane.

If you’re handicapping which NHL club has the best chance at following suit, lay some coin on the Kings.

  2. I actually didn’t. Forgot to look into it. I hear (hearsay) that it was 10 to 1.
