I think he’s going to get sent back to juniors at the end of this road trip.

Just a hunch.

I think he’s played OK.  I think he is ready, in the loosest sense of the term, for NHL action.  He is not that out of place with the Kings, but I also don’t think he has fully taken the reigns and made the most of his opportunity thus far.  During the game last night I got the overwhelming feeling that we will only see Clifford in a Kings’ uniform a handful more times this season.

What do you think?

  1. I think you are right on the money here, Jacob. He had the opportunity to show that he belonged in the lineup longterm last night, and he didn’t do it, in my opinion. He has been touted for his grit, and as a partial enforcer for the Kings, but when he had the opportunity to do some enforcing after the hit on Doughty, he let it pass. Beside that, he did not do anything to set himself apart for his skating, passing or shooting ability either. I think that another season with his junior club is going to be his fate this season.

    • Yup, and that’s totally fine. It was a bonus that he made the team. Sure it makes me hate the AHL 20 year old rule even more, but another season of juniors would not be detrimental to him at all.

  2. I don’t understand that rule at all. I don’t see what purpose it serves, either developmentally for the players, or business wise for the league itself. You would think that they would get that straightened out, and turn the AHL into a true developmental minor league.

  3. He played ok..but nothing stood out saying
    “Kngs..you need me”.
