Well, the game almost bust open.
The Kings got goals from Zus and Stoll.
Zus’ goal came on the powerplay, a half deflection/half rebound poke effort that Brodeur momentarily thought he could contest.
Stills goal was the result of hard effort and a quick transition by Williams and Smyth in the neutral zone. He scored off a backhand l, Marty just ever so slightly late to his right post.
The goal was very timely as it shut the Devil’s fan up behind me who was still cheering the goal Matt Taormina lucked out on scoring only moments earlier.
Kovalchuk has been a complete non-factor.
