SPATZ SHOTS – PRACTICE PICS 11/26/10

Kasey took another round of pictures at the Kings first practice back at Toyota Sports Center.

Couple of things…

Clearly front of net presence is something Murray is stressing.

Dwight King may have replaced Jack Johnson as possessing the most disturbing smile on the team.  I can’t decide if his eyeballs betray the soul of a hockey player or of a Muppet.

I remember being called a racist in photography class in college when I said that you had to light black people more than white people.  Exhibit A that I am not a bigot… Wayne Simmonds.

Am I the only one who looks at the shots of Trevor Lewis stick handling in front of Dwight King and wonders when the last time I read Of Mice & Men?  A note to King, when you score in the NHL, scoring in practice isn’t that exciting.

If you haven’t already looked at the full gallery, DO IT!

As always, we thank Kasey for her undying passion for our Kings and the still image.

  1. King is a bit of a scary looking fellow. I would be more derogatory if he was on another team. He also looks a little mental in these pictures celebrating scoring in practice (even into a net without a goaltender).

Johnson’s smile has always been an enigma to me. Smiles even when things are going shitty. I’m not sure I like that.

Whoever made that comment to you in college must have been a moron. I am pleased to see more black players in the NHL, and welcome black fans…

  2. The King/Lewis battle was fun to watch. They were going back and forth for quite a bit (even doing slow-motion poke checking) and the celebration would be like any of us who were playing against friends. The mentality just seemed great in nature and I’m glad I was able to capture it. I definitely was laughing from the sidelines. You can tell King is thrilled to be on the team and thoroughly enjoys his craft. :)
