KINGS / DUCKS AFTER 20 MINUTES

The Kings came out flying.  Wayne Simmonds has buoyed Kopitar and Brown to almost resemble a real first line, even if it is very apparent there are two guys who prefer the right side out there… three really.  The line generated at the least 3 quality scoring chances, the first of which came on the opening shift when Kopitar passed from behind the goal line to Simmonds out front.  Had Simmonds not taken that split second to wrangle the puck, or shot two inches higher, he would have beaten Hiller.

Then Drew Doughty forgot that though he is better than Jason Blake can ever hope to be, he still must treat him like a professional hockey player.  Blake embarrassingly stripped Doughty inside his own blue line, leading to several quality stops by Quick.

Quick is seeing the puck.  It glows through bodies for his mighty vision.

I am loving Alec Martinez.  This guy has no intention of playing another game in Manchester.  THAT’S how you play when you get an opportunity.  Smart reads, physical play, a jump in every single step, making the safe plays.  Adda boy Martinez.  Its play like this that is called depth, and opens up GMs to make moves to fill in other holes… I didn’t say anything about prospect defensive depth or being organizationally neutered at left wing.  You did.

Kyle Clifford had Aaron Voros on his girly little heels when the two dropped the gloves.  Had Clifford not politely stopped mid punch to take off his helmet, Voros wouldn’t have felt too good in the penalty box.  The two gathered themselves and traded a nice barrage of punches before taking a moment to slow dance sweetly in each others arms.

Go Zeiler go!  Littel devil is living up to his word.  Love the effort to get the puck deep every time.

Score a damn goal already.  Not you Ducks.  You sit down and shut up.

GO KINGS GO!
