He was on my radar. The high output Capitals’ winger who was due to become an unrestricted free agent in the summer has signed another 1 year deal. I suppose one could argue this makes him more tradeable but I doubt it. The end of the CBA looms for players and franchises. This 1 year, reported $6.7 million dollar contract takes him to the CBA but not beyond it. It gives him flexibility to take a wait and see approach.
I am disappointed but, alas, disappointment builds character and we all know how Dean Lombardi covets character. Let that sentence tickle the roof of your brain for a while. GO KINGS!

Truly a bummer. I had reserved myself to thinking we could possibly sign him in the summer. I really didn’t think DL would pull the trigger on renting him for a playoff run, but know both chances just got pushed away even further. It would have made where we stand with Simmonds contract more interesting.
Still might, but I doubt it.
I’m ever so foolishly hopeful we can land Parise. I know it won’t happen, but a guy can hope.
What if Burke decides that he needs to move Versteeg? Does anybody think he could be enough of a partner for Kopi to put us through? Young enough that he’d be good to build into the core group; has a cup under his belt.
Are we desperate enough to try to talk Paul Kariya into a final stint? Could he hold up even for a 4 month run?
It’s a bad sign when I start playing Jr. GM. I don’t know what it means; but, it can’t be good.
Reason for hope in this Tweet?

Devils’ ownership situation will make it it nearly impossible to lock up Parise long-term. Not good. #Understatement.
