LA KINGS CLINCH THE PLAYOFFS

I said this to Nick and Daryl.

I will write it for you.

If Kyle Clifford was a girl, I would make out with him…a dog and I would hump him…an idol and I worship him. I love Kyle Clifford.

I watch him out there with Simmonds and Richardson and I see a player in his rookie year that fits in a high energy, offensive game. He has already shown the necessary heart, guts and drive for a third and fourth line role. He has proven himself worthy of any physical demand and challenge. Elevate him to the top 6 and he evolves. That is special at any age. At 19, it is extraordinary.

Look, tonight’s 3-2 victory over the Coyotes placed an exclamation point at the end of the work ethic sentence. We are not a team of high-end skilled forwards. But, if we play every game to outwork the opposing team, play our defensive system and get solid goaltending, we will win more often than we lose. In the playoffs, the team that wins more than it loses lifts the Stanley Cup.

Some may say that we limped into the playoffs. No way. We sauntered in. Like a group of battled tested soldiers, looking for a fight. Remember that the path of righteous men is beset on all sides by the iniquities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is the team who, in the name of will and victory, shepherds itself through the valley of darkness to reach the playoffs, for each are their hockey brothers’ keeper and the finder of a silver chalice. And let it be known I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who would attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know My name is the Lord when I lay My vengeance upon thee. To the Cup! GO KINGS!

  1. Aw, yes, Clifford. If I may, I’ll add one more thing to the list…..he’s SMART and makes, for the most part, all the correct decisions no matter where on the ice or what situation presents itself. That is truly the amazing part for me. He’s one of the few, who on a consistent basis understands when to hold on to the puck, when to skate with it, when to pass and when to dump. He always finds the open space with his feet or with a pass(while keeping possession)…..sounds simple, but as a team we struggle in this area quite a bit. The other King that is good at finding open space, Lokti. Watch out when these two get together in our near future.

I would without a doubt take three lines of Clifford-Richardson-Simmonds. Ya, I know, they don’t have great finish, but they are exactly why I love watching and participating in sports. I smile and feel good every time I see them on the ice….hustle, desire, grit, determination, and a little self-pride. Gives me the feeling of watching the Italian Stallion.

    Thank you Kings

Didn’t want to jinx us, and mention this out loud, but I started my play-off beard after the loss to SJ. I was sure we would clinch against the Yotes. Thanks for not letting me down boys.

See you all at Staples in a week or so.

  2. Lat night I was thinking along the same thing, “I want a jersey with “Clifford” on the back, man this Clifford-Richardson-Simmonds line rules! And, he’s only 19, man years from now he is going to make us forget about a few players.

  3. Love the ‘Pulp Fiction’ reference. :D

    Go Kings!

  4. Clifford: Tell that bitch to chill.
    Perros: Chill out hunnybunny.
Clifford: Tell that bitch to chill the fuck out .
    Perros: Chill out hunnybunny.

  5. What wonderful writing:

“Remember that the path of righteous men is beset on all sides by the iniquities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. To the Cup! GO KINGS!”

  6. I have two things to say:

I wish we had one of those…..a scorer.

Penner is now officially on my “he sucks” list

  7. Did you see Clifford’s power forward move to net last night? Had (was it Lewis?) the player he set up scored after Clifford went right down the middle, dropping his shoulder and muscling guys out of the way for a perfect set up to (was it Lewis, or Brown?) for that shot, man it was worth watching the whole game to see that. This kid is easily going to become my favorite, favorite player.
