Kings Sign Brad Richardson

Helene Elliott has tweeted that the Kings signed RFA Brad Richardson to a 2 year contract worth 2.35 million dollars. Assuming that is the sum total of the contract that gives the versatile forward a cap hit of $1.175. That’s a good number for the Kings and a bit surprising to us considering the last word we heard was that Richie was seeking closer to $2 mill per year. We had heard this might cause Richie to get signed and traded or not signed at all. Perhaps that info was incorrect or perhaps Richie settled for less. Either way, this avoids arbitration for both parties and we like it. We like Richie and what he brings to the team. He is the most ready of our bottom six forwards to step into top 6 duty when nature calls and he plays with fire in his belly every shift.

Congrats to Richardson on the deal and thanks to Helene for reporting it so promptly.

  1. Hmph! I must be the only one who thinks this is good news (besides Surly of course).

    • You’re not the only one Dom, I love this signing. I’m a huge Richardson fan and I’m glad he’s back. He’s a big part of our team. Glad you’re sticking around, son.

  2. With that contract, I expect 15+ goals from Richardson if he plays with Clifford and Stoll on the third line. 45+ goals is needed from the third line next season, the Kings only got 31 goals from their third line last year.
