Matt- The player cannot be entirely inside the offensive zone (both skates), prior to the puck completely crossing the blue line.
From the NHL rulebook:
The position of the player’s skates and not that of his stick shall be the determining factor in all instances in deciding an off-side. A player is off-side when both skates are completely over the LEADING EDGE of the blue line involved in the play.
A player is on-side when either of his skates are in contact with, or on his own side of the line, at the instant the puck completely crosses the LEADING EDGE of the blue line regardless of the position of his stick.

No linesman is going to call that. The angle makes it look worse than it is. Ott’s skate is lifted above the ice, but could still be over the line.
The point is that IF Ott is offside, it’s by about half an inch. Complaining about that makes you look like a whiny bitch.

Has anyone blamed the refs for the loss? A couple of commenters are building straw men. Pointing out the douchebag was offside is a fact. Nobody wrote “shit, this is the reason we lost.” As one person wrote or suggested, I think, it was the icing on a shit cake. Reading comprehension is your friend.
