Collective Sigh Of Relief For Kopitar

The man says he’s fine. He says he should play tomorrow in Calgary.

Thank the gods I don’t believe in nor like very much, since after finally seeing a replay of the hit, if Kopitar truly is OK he deserves the title of Iron Man.

Ouch.

So it looks like there was no contact with the head by Morrow. I see it as a blindside hit, but I may be in the minority on that one. It’s a fine line between charging/blindsiding and taking a clean run at a guy who doesn’t have his head up. For me the difference comes from the fact that Kopitar was already covered going behind the net and that Morrow comes in at an obtuse angle from Kopi’s direction. Kopi is already dealing with Alex Goligoski hounding him from behind, and that’s where his attention was, so it’s not entirely just a case of a guy who isn’t paying attention. It’s a guy who is preoccupied with one player getting leveled by another. I won’t say it’s absolutely clean, because this hit walks a fine line for me, but I’m willing to acquiesce to it’s legality. I still reserve the right to want Morrow’s spine smashed repeatedly by cross-checks the next time we play the Stars. Continue reading

Read Scribe’s Article, Watch This Video, Then Go To Bed

Read the article yet?

Good.

Now watch this.

The perfect thing to solidify knowledge that the arid, hockeyless summer melts away. Watching this was a smack in the face of pride, elation and longing. All the elements for being consumingly jazzed up for the season are in place.

HF Boarder Rommel brings us this gnarly video. Check out his YouTube page, he’s got a ton of videos, the shorter, to the point exciting kind that I like.

I’ll read you the bedtime story tomorrow (not a joke).

Last Development Camp Video… I promise

The bulk of the Group A practice from Tuesday.

You’ll get a pretty good look at everyone from this group in this video, so here is a refresher of players and numbers.

Defensemen (in black): 6 Muzzin / 41 Roach(t) / 54 Gravel / 83 Miller(t) / 84 Forbort / 85 Gregorc(t)

The goalies: 39 Morrison / 46 Machovsky / 65 Brown – all tryouts.

Forwards: Blue jerseys – 51 Kozun / 77 Czarnick / 82 Kaunisto.  Red Jerseys – 43 Shumacher / 72 Dowd / 60 Weal.  White jerseys – 48 Eddy(t) / 55 Mersch / 56 Shore.

Now moving on to bigger and better things… I hear that Lombardi guy is pretty pissed at some Canadian dude, but I don’t talk politics.

Video Fest Continues: Development Camp Group A Drills

One more video from LA Kings Development Camp on 7-12-11.  Thi is from the end of practice, the same 2 on 1 drills I had for Andrew Campbell and Nic Deslauriers in the other group.  This has all the defensemen from group A.  Tryouts marked with a (t).

6 Muzzin / 41 Roach(t) / 54 Gravel / 83 Miller(t) / 84 Forbort / 85 Gregorc(t)

The goalies are 39 Morrison / 46 Machovsky / 65 Brown – all tryouts.

Blue jerseys – 51 Kozun / 77 Czarnick / 82 Kaunisto.  Red Jerseys – 43 Shumacher / 72 Dowd / 60 Weal.  White jerseys – 48 Eddy(t) / 55 Mersch / 56 Shore.

I was hoping to include one last video in this post but the upload failed in the middle of the night. Will restart the long bastard tonight. The next video has a rob of action with a real good look at every player in this group.

LA Kings Dev Camp Group B Practice Video

Here are excerpts of most of the players asked for in some isolation.  This includes Nick in 318‘s much prettier footage, which we are very thankful for him filming.  His work will be obvious.  The order of the video is:

Tyler Toffoli 0:00-2:22

Linden Vey 2:22-3:21

Jordan Nolan 3:21-3:40

Toffoli, Vey, Nolan Rushes 3:21-4:29

Andy Andreoff 4:29-4:49

Andrew Campbell 4:49-5:51

Nicolas Delsuariers 5:51-7:54

Chris Gibson 7:54-8:45

I have lots more.  Most of same drills with other prospects, I’m getting a little weary of clipping these out tonight, so I will attack Group A tomorrow.

Let me ask you this… would you like to see the longer form version of this stuff with more of the prospects whom I wasn’t focusing (tryouts and such), or will this kind of thing do it for you?

Kings Development Camp Scrimmage 1st Period

Sorry for the delay in getting this up. The second period won’t be far behind in another post.

Forgive the poor quality at the far end and the crappy focus. Sometime soon I’m going to invest in a nice camera with a real lens… but at least this is HD. Speaking of nice cameras, a friend and reader, Nick in 318 (guess where he sits at games), showed up for the second round of drills this morning with his nice camera and shot some footage for you all. That will come later tonight, in a video of practice sessions. There will be two of those videos, one for each group (those I am editing down). Might also have enough good stuff to do a little music montage, but that will happen tomorrow if at all.

Enjoy, and pardon my blathering.

ps… there’s a nice hit at 7:39.

MARCO STURM HAS HUGE TEETH AND NO UPPER LIP

But he passed his physical!

So he’s officially a King!

And he’s joining the team in St. Louis!

And and and he might play as soon as next week!

But I said he has huge teeth and no upper lip.

See for yourself in his interview with Heidi Androl on Kings Vision. (the source embed code from KingsVision never works for me… does wordpress suck or do I suck?)

Some think he won’t be the same player with two previously blown out knees.   I say screw those people.  My hopes are high for Marco.

Welcome Mr. Sturm, I usually don’t accept Germans into my house, but score a few goals next to Kopitar and I’ll make an exception for you.

GO KINGS GO!

WHY WE LOVE KINGSVISION AT LAKINGS.COM

Sorry, I can’t get the embed to work.  Nonetheless, enjoy a rare glimpse into the Kings’ locker room after last night’s win against the Dev… pastries… um, croissants, no…. cupcakes… that’s it, cupcakes.

Thanks to Kingsvision for bringing us this video!

KINGS’ VISION

Am I the only one who finds it a little ironic that Westgarth got more camera time than ice time?

VIDEO: KINGS’ BAILEY TAUNTS KOVALCHUK ON CUPCAKES’ BENCH

Here it is…an LAKingsNews exclusive? We’ll see if anyone else got the video. To set this up, the taunting started before the video. The moment I saw it, I grabbed the camera and found the record feature. You can see Kovalchuk at the very left of the screen getting up and walking though I kept the video on Bailey. The hilarious laughter you hear immediately within ear shot are the two very fun and cool Kings’ fans who sit directly in front of me in section 119. Enjoy the short video.

As for the photos, I found all of them but the “Hockey for Dummies” one…though I did make up for that loss with the first three, for the guys anyway. Sorry ladies.

VIDEO: JUSTIN WILLIAMS’ FIGHT AGAINST JOHN MICHAEL LILES

Justin Williams is playing with the passion and heart of a player that wants to win every shift, every period and every game. His skating, hustle and willingness to do whatever it takes to get the puck is second to none on this team. This fight against John Michael Liles is an indication of his will to win. He is my man crush so far this season and remember boys, this is a contract year.

NEW FEATURE: VIDEO HIGHLIGHTS

We’ve added another new feature and page to the site – video highlights! After each game, we will post the highlight video or videos on the page titled “VIDEO HIGHLIGHTS” at the top of your screen. We have uploaded the  highlight video of each game thus far. Remember to check back often because we will be adding videos as we find them. Between the new Goalie Tracker, Lineup Card, and now Video Highlights, is there any doubt how much we love our readers and fellow Kings’ fans?
