Will The Following L.A. Kings Players Please Report To Scribe’s Place?

Dustin Penner. Please bring your heart as I find little evidence you have one. Drew Doughty. Bring your 8 year contract, the original and all existing copies. I have a few modifications. Scott Parse. I just want to make sure there are not two of you, one that Dean Lombardi claims to be the most skilled player on the team and one that walks around with a Coors Light in his hand and doesn't do … [Read more...]

Let’s Give Scott Parse Our Full Support

If Terry Murray didn't make random and illogical roster changes that contradict objective observation or even his own spoken sentiment, he wouldn't be Terry Murray. Expect the unexpected is Murray's Mantra. Let's not hold that against Scott Parse. The fact Parse has played below average this preseason and arguably earned nothing in either of the past two seasons (27 years old, 64 career games, 12 … [Read more...]

Voynov Kicking Ass + Parse Sucking = Parse On Roster?

Today Rich Hammond has all but officially announced the final roster cut as being bestowed sanctimoniously upon Slava Voynov. We get the following quote from Terry Murray: “I can’t speak for management. That’s probably a conversation we need to sit down and have, but I would say the chances are not very likely that we would keep him around. With Drew back now, and the players that we have … [Read more...]

An Avalanche of Thoughts, Tidbits & Musings

The 2 goal quota was destroyed tonight. Kopitar murdered it single-handedly. Anybody else pissed off that this 6-0 shellacking wasn't televised or streamed? Playing Colorado 3 nights before Frozen Fury is confusing. It's like putting the sex before foreplay. What's the point? Admit it, if you are going to Frozen Fury, there was a side of you before the game tonight that thought, "you know, I … [Read more...]

Screw Dean & Don & Drew. I Care About LA Kings

Right now the LA Kings does not include Drew Doughty.  As such, he can find himself a filthy little corner of my thoughts to rest in until he decides to wear the crown again.  Until then, I will focus on people wearing the uniform I love. So more importantly than all this other garbage, who is going to the opening of training camp tomorrow?  Bobby & I will be there for a good chunk of … [Read more...]

Fast Forward To Summer Of 2012…

Since this summer has been so slow with L.A. Kings news or anything of interest, I looked at what we have in store this time next year. RFAs? None! Imagine that. UFAs. Here they are: 1. Dustin Penner, $4.25 million 2. Jarret Stoll, $3.6 million 3. Scott Parse, $900,000.00 4. Colin Fra... 4. Kevin Westgarth, $525,000.00 5. Willie Mitchell, $3.5 million Let's say we don't add … [Read more...]

Dean Lombardi’s Official Top 10 Priorities Ahead Of Mike Richards’ Partying In Philadelphia

So, I saw this Daily News gossip columnist, Dan Gross', article about Mike Richards, Jeff Carter and their partying lifestyle that allegedly permeated into the Flyers' locker room. The article claimed: Shortly after his arrival in December 2009, coach Peter Laviolette instituted what players came to call the "Dry Island." Laviolette asked team members to commit to not drinking for a month, and … [Read more...]

TERRY MURRAY TALKS ABOUT TEDDY PURCELL THROUGH REVISIONIST HISTORY

First, the LA Times article that contains an interview with Terry Murray about an explanation of Teddy Purcell's post L.A. Kings' success: Helene Elliott talks Teddy...it's nice to have someone like Helene who has the courage to ask the tough questions. Now, my comments after I allowed myself to calm down. I asked Kings General Manager Dean Lombardi for his thoughts on Purcell’s feats with … [Read more...]

THE ROYAL REPORT CARD III: LA KINGS’ BOTTOM SIX & DEPTH PLAYERS

Harry Halkidis brings us his third installment of the Royal Report Card. The bottom six forwards and depth players will be scrutinized, analyzed and graded. Michal Handzus (B): Handzus is one of Terry Murray's most reliable checkers, as the veteran leader led all Kings forwards in short-handed ice time. His play on the penalty kill helped the team rank fourth overall in penalty killing. … [Read more...]

WIN ONE FOR SURLY!

So, the Surly one is going to San Jose for game 5. He likely wishes it wasn't the elimination game. Alas, when life gives you lemons, you throw them at your opponent's head and kick him in the nuts. Hockey and lemonade don't really work. So, what did Terry Murray do to help the Kings win one for Surly? Scott Parse. That's right. The answer to our defensive woes. When I think Scotty, I think … [Read more...]

KINGS’ NEWS AND NOTES: PARSE, RICHARDSON, SCHENN & KING

Scott Parse is out for 3-4 months. He will have surgery to repair his hip labrum. I assume it's a tear. Otherwise, I am not sure what the point of surgery may be. For those unfamiliar with this condition, it's very common among hockey players. The labrum is a ridge of cartilage that essentially holds your hip joints together. My guess is that Parse has suffered from this condition for months and … [Read more...]

KINGS PLAYS SHARKS GAME AND LOSE 6-3

Unfortunately, its true what they say about not being able to win them all. I'll keep this short, like my fuse at the moment. If you want to know about the scoring sheet and such, I encourage you to see the NHL.com recap.  They have lots of pretty box scores, names and numbers.  They will tell you who the Kings lost to and by how much.  I will only tell you why. I said that the Kings … [Read more...]

SCRIBE’S QUICK HITS

- It's time to make a decision on Clifford. The 19-year-old boy in a man's body with a Genghis style mean streak is either going to play Thursday or go to Juniors. God help those kids in Juniors if he is sent down. All I see is blood and pain. - Drew Doughty and Rob Scuderi, season II. That is according to Murray. So the question is now, Matt Greene and Jack Johnson? Davis Drewiske and Peter … [Read more...]

HEY LOKI, IT WAS FUN

NHL stint #1 for Andrei Loktionov has come to an end. Today "Loki" was assigned to the Manchester Monarchs. The Kings skated in practice with Scott Parse on the first line, a good sign for an imminent return of the projected top 6 winger. Ponikarovsky is not at practice... but we don't know why.  My guess is he is not going to Manchester.  I know, a real shot in the dark. Hard to say … [Read more...]

THE TALE OF THREE KIDS – LOKTIONOV, SCHENN & CLIFFORD

The Kings have a problem. It's the good kind. There are too many solid young players looking to break into the club but not enough roster spots. For Clifford and Schenn, the game to game clock is ticking. Clifford is at 7 games, Schenn at 8. Once they hit 9, the Kings must choose to keep them and burn a year of their pro contract or send them back to their respective junior club. For the 123rd … [Read more...]

SPATZ SHOTS – PHOTOS FROM PRACTICE 10/29/10

Kasey Spatz was at it again this morning at practice.  Enjoy! That was just a small sample.  Click here for the full gallery on Kasey's flickr page. As always, we thank Kasey for sharing her work with us. … [Read more...]

THE LACE BITE

From Hammond on Greene and Parse's injury status: MURRAY: “Greene is getting better. He’s coming along. It’s just another maintenance look for him, to stay off the ice. He had a little bit of swelling, infection, in his ankle because of `lace bite.’ We’ve had about 10 guys, since the start of training camp, go through the same lace-bite problem. I’ve had it. It is painful. It’s … [Read more...]

TSN HAS DOUGHTY & KOPITAR IN THEIR TOP 50

Doughty is number 8, wedged between Datsyuk and Backstrom. Kopitar is number 29 between St. Louis and Lundqvist. Doughty's ranking does not surprise me. Seeing Kopitar beat out some superstars in this league put a smile on my face. Link is here: Top 50 TSN article. GO KINGS! … [Read more...]

IS TERRY MURRAY HINTING AT SOMETHING?

I may be crazy, but read this quote from Terry Murray a few times: “With a couple guys on IR, we were allowed to make that decision,” Murray said. “He’s had a great training camp, speaking of Loktionov. There’s a nice upside to his game, and I think it’s important that he has a sense that we appreciate what he has done throughout the training camp and tell him that he’s on the … [Read more...]

ROSTER SET, LINES IN FLUX. ERSBERG/CLUNE CLEAR WAIVERS

The 23 man 2010-2011 Los Angeles Kings roster is set.  It includes Kyle Clifford, Brayden Schenn, Trevor Lewis and Andrei Loktionov.  With Scott Parse looking like he is heading to the IR for a time, Brad Richardson will maintain his promotion to the 2nd line left wing spot. While the roster may be in place, it is still unclear who the regular 4th line will consist of as well as who will be … [Read more...]
